The population is about 80 thousand. It is another city which is closely connected with the name of the great commander Timur and his descendants.
Here Timur was born in 1336 and here he wanted to be buried.The city is 2700 years old.
One of the greatest palaces was built here by the order of Timur -Ak-Sarai.The palace impresses you by its size, richness and diversity of decor.
Other monuments to be visited: the Mausoleum of Djahongir, Gumbazi-Zeidon Mausoleum, Mosque Kuk-Gumbaz.
